Senior Instructional Designer, Leadership Development Programs (contract)
 
SparkTaC is currently seeking an Senior Instructional Designer to join the team. This role will play an integral part in the design and development of new leadership development solutions. 
  
The Senior Instructional Designer will focus on developing leadership development experiences for senior leaders by using best practices to create new programs, and reimagine or modernize existing programs. The ideal candidate for this role is someone with knowledge of leadership and development theories combined with experience developing blended learning solutions. To be successful in this role you will be committed to high quality work and the demonstration of the organization’s values in all aspects of work and interactions with colleagues, clients and customers. 
  
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer this is a 12-month contract role, with the opportunity for extension. The role can be based remotely (preferable within the GTA).   
  
Key Accountability for:

Create overall program/curriculum design plans 
•    Outline end-to-end learning journeys designed to achieve desired outcomes for specific target audiences incorporating mixed learning methodologies and approaches 
•    Define learning objectives for overall programs and individual modules 
•    Apply knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles to design high-impact, learner-focused blended learning solutions to drive leadership effectiveness 
•    Apply adult learning principles, instructional design principles and experiences working in multiple formats for ILT, vILT, digital formats, and workplace support tools to reinforce the learning  
•    Draw on and incorporate both well-established blended learning approaches and emerging practices in learning, instructional design, leadership, and talent development into program design 

Design and develop all required materials for program facilitators and participants 
•    Research content for program material 
•    Design program experience and activities that effectively engage learners and support their development using a variety of techniques 
•    Produce all program materials for in-person and virtual classroom sessions, as well on-the-job and learning sustainment activities 
•    Work with design team to ensure all materials align with branding standards 
  
Support implementation and evaluation of leadership development programs 
•    Design, conduct, and/or support train-the-trainer sessions, as required 
•    Support and participate in pilot programs, seek feedback from participants, clients and facilitators, and identify and incorporate revisions 
•    Analyze program evaluation data and implement necessary improvements 
•    Proactively share best practices and identify recommended improvements or updates 

Skills & Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s Degree required

•    Advanced degree or equivalent experience in instructional/learning design, human resource development, educational technology, communications, business or other relevant field preferred
•    At least 6+ years’ experience in instructional content development, ideally with a focus on professional and leadership development
•    Demonstrated knowledge of leadership development theories and concepts 
•    Experience designing and developing end-to-end projects, including: 
•    Curriculum or comprehensive programs, using a modular, blended approach Experiential learning 
•    Leadership development programs for leaders at all levels 
•    Virtual instructor-led programs for soft skill development 
•    Ability to successfully manage multiple projects while being flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity 
•    Team player, willing to actively contribute and work collaboratively on a range of learning design and development initiatives 
•    Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills 
•    Strong customer-focus, business acumen and organizational skills 
•    Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence 
•    Ability to demonstrate an entrepreneurial and creative attitude when approaching projects 
•    Proficiency with the MS Office suite
•    Adult Learning certificate, CTDP or other relevant certification is a desirable asset 
•    Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset 
•    Ability to travel occasionally
